Life has been very busy since adding Hope & Maggie to our family in August 2012. I have gotten away from blogs. Facebook and Instagram are just easier to update. But last night, Jadyn took our camera and snapped some photos and it made me think I should post a little update.
Hope is now 18 years old. An adult. But she doesn't think so. She likes to still act like she's about 10 or 11 years old. I hope one day, the need for that kind of attention will stop. She has days when we see so much growth. And then days when we just want to pull our hair out. I'm sure I'm not alone in that feeling. Kids will be kids, and Hope is still very much a kid at heart.
Maggie will be 18 in less than 6 months. And she is the total opposite of Hope. She acts much older most of the time. If she's around younger kids though, she still reverts to behaving and acting like them. But for the most part, you would think Maggie is an adult.
They are both juniors in High School. They try to be very active in school clubs. They like being involved. They love helping others. Maggie had her first boyfriend this year. That didn't last long, because he speaks mainly Spanish and she said she didn't like needing a translator to talk to her boyfriend.
We are in the process of getting them enrolled in a program that will start to get them ready for the real world. This is something I have worried about for 5 years. This program will test them to see what their strengths and weaknesses are and what their interests are. Then the program will guide them, teach them and train them to find and keep a job. I hope this will be successful. They graduate in May 2019 and they both want to be successful adults and to find a job and eventually be on their own. We want that as well.
So there's a quick update on Hope & Maggie. Hopefully it won't be another 3 years before I blog again. ha ha.
Merry Christmas from our family to yours.
