I took my camera to breakfast today to try to capture the lotus root. Yesterday it was purple. Today is was more gray. Hope ate it again. Maggie had congee, fried rice, a muffin and a banana. She was full. But now she's eating the jelly in the room and Pringles. Goodness how is this child so skinny.
We are starting to pack. They are confused. We told them "airplane". Hope got so excited. Started looking around the room for her new sneakers. Got socks and put them on. We said "noooo, not time yet". then Bill translated 5:00 to her. She ran for my watch and then grunted. It was funny. She is excited to go. I love that.
The girls are wearing new outfits today and new shoes. Hope's outfit came from Walmart here. The shoes were from the kids shop. Maggie's dress is from the kids shop. The leggings Maggie is wearing is from Children's Place at home. If anyone has leggings they are getting rid of, or if you are going to Children's place and have a good coupon, could you get some for us? We have 2 and she wears them with every dress. I bought a size 7/8 and they seem to fit okay. We just have white right now.
Hope had another hitting episode with Bill. She is not doing it out of anger. She thinks it's okay to hit. So he took the remote and turned the TV off. She tattled on him to me. (laughed inside so she would not see). I said "No, naughty" and pointed to her. She understood. Then she came to me and wanted me to hug her. TV was off for about 10 min. She started to "help" Bill pack. He finally said "OK, watch TV". LOL She was happy.
I reminded Bill that even though we feel this is a hard time right now, it could be worse. They are bonded with us, they have not cried or thrown tantrums. They have not tried to run away or ask to leave us. They are just curious and excited. Who knows what they told them at the SWI. I assume they said "Rich American Family coming. Have them buy you everything". Maybe they don't say that, but that is what it feels like. We feel bad for saying no so much. But we have to or else we will get run all over. They understand no. And they do not throw a fit when they don't get their way. So, we know things are not as bad as they could be. It's just hard when we are here to deal with it all.
Here are some photos from this morning. We leave the hotel at 5 PM to head to Hefei's airport. Flight is around 7:15 PM. We should land in Guangzhou around 9 PM. Not sure when we will get online after we leave here. We will probably just get to bed. Saturday morning we have to be up early for the medical exam. So the earliest we might be online would be Saturday afternoon for us (EARLY Saturday morning at home).
Love from China!

Good luck with the flight and medical exam. My girls needed 4 or 5 shots prior to leaving the exam. Today, they had to have more, 4 for Journey and 5 for Kendall. Kendall needs two more but we are going to wait until next month for those.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your blog and updates.
The girls look SO cute in their new outfits! Maggie looks like such a girly girl!
ReplyDeleteOk LOVE the outfits!! They look so cute! And I wish I could help you out with buying leggings but ummm.....leggings? Girl....you know I'm totally the wrong person. :) Your over the hump now, and home is on the horizon! Your doing great!!
ReplyDeleteI keep trying to leave comments, but my iPad is not cooperating :-/ Anyway, I'm glad to hear that things are continuing to improve. It sounds like bringing home two is working well for you guys. I'm sure the kids at home can't wait to meet their new sisters. Hang in there, just a few more days and you'll be getting tons of hugs and kisses from the crew at home. I know its tough while you are there, but try to enjoy this time with just the two girls. Life will really be crazy when you get home, especially with school in full swing.
ReplyDeleteContinued prayers
They are so dear! I am so excited to hear how they are bonding to you! What a blessing! You and Bill are doing great! Praying for strength for you all...and happy days ahead for you in Guangzhou! They are adorable in their new outfits!
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures! It looks like all of you are doing terrific. Have a great trip to GZ! We really had a lot of fun there this time. Also, remember that you will need to have the girls checked for parasites when you return. This is one reason why Makenna could eat like a grown man (or 2) and not gain an ounce! Looking forward to reading your posts from GZ.
ReplyDeleteGood job shopping in China!! I have never been able to find clothes I like there- I must have been looking in the wrong stores?
ReplyDeleteIt is such a hard time in China- I am sure they told our Abby that we would buy her anything- she wanted everything and then pouted if she didn't get it.
I feel like we say so many no's too- the children have so much to learn- boundaries, appropriateness, manners, and survival in their new world!
Blessings on your journey!!
